Driving test fail

It is probably one of the most irritating things to fail a driving test. I won’t lie – I have reacted pretty badly to it. Firstly by bursting into tears in front of the man testing me, probably making him feel very much uncomfortable. Actually, no, to be honest he didn’t seem to care, which angered me further. Then by eating a chocolate muffin, a large bar of milka daim chocolate and ice cream simultaneously. Yes it may have been my first time, and yes maybe the two serious faults I made were pretty serious, but it makes me so angry that one little man or woman with a clipboard has that amount of control over my freedom. I live on a farm about a mile from a main road!
It is true that I am being a little dramatic. I only realised this after I screamed, “This has ruined my life!”, after days of continually sighing, “I’m just so…depressed”. My boyfriend reacted sympathetically by rolling his eyes. Because that really isn’t true – it has in fact ruined a mere fraction of my summer. And yes I am immensely upset and infuriated but there’s no need to start giving me happy pills just yet.
In fact many people tend to react very similarly to me – saying that they are crap, that they aren’t good enough and beginning to lose confidence in themselves and in their driving ability. But really us first-time-failers should not do this to ourselves, because really we can always take another test and we DO have a second chance, or a third or even a tenth in some cases. Although it doesn’t feel like it, at some point when we are ready that little man or woman scribbling away on the clipboard, who, to be honest, is only doing their job, will grant us with our full driving licence so that we can join the ‘pro’s’ on a main road.
This will be a brilliant feeling for me. I will be able to actually drive onto the road, rather than driving up my long driveway (which only takes about 2 minutes) with my music at full blast, feeling pretty damn cool only to turn back around once reaching the end of it and head home, feeling very much uncool.
So although I may have failed this time and may do again, I just have to remember that it will happen one day…hopefully!

Aww thankyou very much! I’ve passed now (luckily) but I’m glad really because like you say, by failing the first time it gave me more experience while taking driving lessons in the lead up to my second test
I know exactly how you feel; I took my test ten times and I finally passed!:O I know its crazy but I guess my nerves always got the better of me every time:( but keep the confidence and carry on, I know how it feels, I mean I’ve been in that position a whopping nine times so you know…just remember don’t give up, if you want it bad, remember all the money you’ve spent on lessons and the test and everything. Hopefully you will pass on the next one, just keep your cool and you will be rewarded accordingly
and another thing is, well I think that it makes you a more humble person not to pass on your first person because it usually goes to people’s heads and too much self-confidence on the road can be disastrous! So, keep calm and carry on, don’t lose the confidence and hopefully you shall pass soonish! Good luck!:)
