After a childhood spent being as carefree and strange as any child would wish to be (utter bliss), I seem to have spent most of my time out of the UK. Not because I don’t like it, in fact, each time I leave I like it more, primarily for the safety and the tea. However, I grew up in various different intentional communities in three different countries, and with that kind of background it’s almost impossible not to catch the travel bug. As of such, I’ve spent the past ten and a half months living and working in different South American countries as part of my language degree. During this time I have: befriended a pony, been a clown at children’s parties in Argentina, sang to the sunrise on Maccu Picchu, (kind of) learnt the ukulele, been an artisan vendor in Chile, been lost in Bogotá, walked across the sky in Bolivia and fallen asleep to the sound of the Ecuadorean Amazon jungle. It has been pretty life- changing.
