Of course people aren’t interested in applying to universities many people cant afford it and as the are cuts in financially help many people are seeing higher education as a risk, because with the lack of jobs available they feel that once they are out of college of compulsory education they want to find a job that they can keep and develop skills in rather than spend a lot of money for education and finish with extra skills but end up without a job and in debt. Today society and economy its more of a risk to go to university than not to go to university.
Many people are definitely reconsidering going to university due to the higher fees imposed by the Government. I do think that people who want to attend University will still go regardless of the fees whether ‘privileged’ or not.

All Governments speak continuously about ‘education’ and have encouraged and kind of brainwashed people into thinking that eveyone must attend univeristy and that everyone must be an academic. Dont get me wrong education is excellent but what they have failed to realise is that not everyone is an academic and that university and higher education doesnt suit us all. That doesnt mean to say that people that choose to go straight into the work field are illiterate because I know a lot of people that are brilliant with the practical aspects of their work but have difficulties when it comes down to the theory work. I think it’s actually a sad state of affairs when employers will not even consider people for various positions unless they have some kind of degree or HND etc. When I left school at the age of sixteen people used to work their way up the career ladder and degrees where at that particular time just for the priviledged but you found that Managers where proper Managers who possesed a lot more professionalism than a lot of Managers possess today. I think personally, that things will eventually turn around and that people will eventually be accepted for various positions and will be trained on the job without some kind of degree etc because otherwise the skills shortage that we are currently faced with at present will never be fully addressed. On the other hand in relation to increased university fees i agree that this Government will create further inequality which again will cause/lead to further ongoing controversial issues because university will eventually be for the elite.
This government is probably going to create even more inequality where only the privileged can go to university.
