Just to let you know Opinionpanel will be exhibiting at The Guardian's Higher Education Summit 2007, 31st January - 2nd February at the New Connaught Rooms. Hope to see some of you there.
A new Study on the Academic Experience of Students in English Universities by the Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) funded by the Higher Education Academy has highlighted the large disparities in teaching hours for the same subject at different universities. The fieldwork was based on 15,000 interviews conducted by Opinionpanel using The Student Panel. The findings received extensive coverage in the national and education press and make an important contribution to the debate on student experience and the value of higher education.

Once again, Opinionpanel conducted the polling for the Times Higher's "Best Student Experience" award 2006. Congratulations to the winning university, Loughborough and all the short listed candidates; the universities of Cambridge, Leeds, Liverpool, Oxford, St Andrews, Sheffield, Stirling, Swansea and Warwick.

Most of you know we run The Student Panel and offer a Student Omnibus Survey every fortnight. But did you know we now run a fortnightly Graduate Omnibus Survey too? Reaching five hundred verified former students in their first or second year since leaving university and representative of the graduating population, it is the perfect platform for researchers interested in this market. Runs on the same days as Student Omnibus Survey -- the first and third Wednesday of every month. Contact Ben Marks
Once again, we've spoken to a huge number of new undergraduates - this year over 13,000 - about their pre-enrolment journey, choosing a university and their expectations around fees. The findings make an essential toolkit for any education professional involved in HE recruitment, course packaging, admissions, marketing, communications, finance, reputation, pricing and access. This year we are proud to be working in close collaboration with The Knowledge Partnership who are assisting in survey design, analysis and workshop presentations.
Opinionpanel will be exhibiting at The Guardian's Higher Education Summit 2007, 31st January - 2nd February at the New Connaught Rooms. And Ben Marks will be speaking at The Knowledge Partnership's conference on 2nd-3rd April. "International Markets - Internal Dynamics". Hope to see some of you at either event.

You may be interested to know about some of the non-HE work we get involved in. Our 2006/7 Student Mobile Monitor is out now. Findings from last years' Study show just how dynamic the market is; the vast majority of students switch handset brands when they change phone. The look and feel of a new handset is the most important consideration and while most students opt for free handsets, a third are prepared to pay over £50 for their handset. Over the course of the last academic year Nokia's share dropped while Samsung and Motorola's made impressive headway.
