Latest news from the world of student research

Best Student Experience is at Universities of Aberystwyth, Cambridge, Glasgow, Loughborough, Oxford and St Andrews

We've once again been commissioned to run the polling for the Times Higher Education Supplement's annual student experience award. Our research is unique because it looks at all students in all years of study throughout the academic calendar and asks questions that students themselves define as comprising their experience; a much broader definition than merely looking at teaching and learning evaluation amongst finalists. I recently wrote on the topic for the new edition of Campus Life magazine. The THES announced the shortlist (the list in the title) and the winner will be announced on 29th November. Good luck to all involved and thanks to the 22,000 students who took part!

Is a BA degree the fast track to the temping office?

Our Article of the Month is becoming very popular for budding student writers.   Just published this month is an article by Kate Webber (University of Leicester) who asks if BA degrees are the 'fast track to the temping office'!  Other articles include writers on 'Mickey Mouse' degrees and a fascinating debate on fees, including a contribution by Professor Nicholas Barr, one of the architects of the new financial arrangements. Congratulations, the Higher Education Policy Institute

Congratulations, the Higher Education Policy Institute

Congratulations to HEPI on achieving such widespread and deserved coverage on their recent research on The Academic Experience of Students in English Universities.  Opinionpanel is proud, once again, to have been able to conduct the fieldwork for this study - that's over 15,000 interviews with first and second year students in England.

Last opportunity to boost your sample

Higher Expectations 2007/08 provides unique insight into the student verdict on admissions, recruitment marketing and fees. The fieldwork will start in the next few weeks. But, if you're at one of the mid-sized or smaller universities that normally have too small a sample size to participate, please get in touch as soon as possible and we will set a boosting programme up for you. Call me on 020 7288 8789 to discuss..
