8 Things You’ll Understand if You’re Left-Handed

If you’re left-handed then you’ll know that everything in the world is made for righties! Here are 8 things you’ll understand if you’re left-handed:

1. At school, there was always one teacher who was extra mean when you smudged your work. Smudging your work was unavoidable unless you turned your book sideways like me and wrote up your page!

2. On top of that, if you like drawing, you’ll understand how difficult it is. Your work always gets smudged and the graphite on your forearm makes it look like you’re slowly turning into the Silver Surfer or Colossus…

3. What about those silly pens with white and blue lids on either end? I mean, thanks mum and dad for buying them, but how on earth were they meant to end all of our suffering?

4. Class seating plans would always leave us next to the most annoying thing in the world: right-handed people. All I need to say is: BUMPING ELBOWS!

5. Ever been into a bank and had to sign something on those little counters? If you have, then you’ll know those bankers just love to watch as you try and fail to use their tiny pens.

6. Can openers are made for right handed people, meaning instead of having beans on toast, you normally just end up with the toast, because after 10 minutes of trying to open the tin, you slowly lose the will to live.

7.  We all thought those left-handed scissors were a great idea, but when everyone began passing the scissors around, you had to make sure you got first pick so you didn’t miss out on one of the only left-handed pairs. Almost every single time, I found myself using righty scissors, which never ended well…

8. When you’re the only left-handed person in the group, you always get the nickname “leftie”. I don’t go calling you “righty” do I so why pick on me?

To end on a positive note: isn’t it just great to find another left-handed person who you can just spill all your problems to? It might not be the best to be a leftie, but when we find one another and get talking, it’s just fantastic.

I have been classmates with a “leftie’ and almost all of my classmates were intrigued by how different she does ‘rightie’ things. We rather wished to have been lefties because of the uniqueness that comes with it.
